that sucking noise

It’s nearly December. And we’re being pulled into the vortex of time. The maelstrom is all around us! Can you hear it? Can you feel it?

Perhaps it’s just me. But after Halloween, the year just seems to accelerate. And after Black Friday, the days move forward at warp speed. The commitments and the demands and the lists and the expectations and the projects that need to be done – have to get done – before the end of the year seem to mount at a logarithmic rate. And then there are the card lists and the gift lists and the shopping and the holiday parties… .

It’s enough to make one want to jump ship… .

What to do?

Wrong question.

The question is what not to do.

That’s what this week’s video is about.

How will you take care of you during this holiday season?

that old sad refrain

It’s mid-November. I’m beginning to hear that old, sad refrain.

(I’m not taking about the holiday jingles, although those are everywhere!)

I’m talking about this one: “I’ll get to that after the holidays.”

That’s what this week’s video is about.

You can definitely put stuff off. We do it all the time.

In your mind, there will always be a better time, a more convenient time.

But here’s the truth: All of the pieces will never be in place. Things will never line up perfectly.

The time will never be right.

And another month… or year… or two… will slide by.

Why not start right now?

some sad

As the days grow shorter and the light gets dimmer, it’s easy for our energy to wane.

Years ago, I realized that I tend to experience some seasonal affective disorder (SAD) around this time of year. Because of the low light, my serotonin levels drop; and I’m aware that my usual perky self is sometimes not quite as perky. So I have to be especially attentive about my self-care: getting outdoors; supplementing my vitamin D; eating well; not self-medicating with alcohol; keeping up my running routine; getting out to the gym; meditating; journaling under a full-spectrum lamp. And not allowing these practices to slide.

That’s what this week’s video is about.

Add in the soon-to-be-upon-us holiday stress and melee, and there is a perfect recipe for the self-care cart to go off the tracks.

Here’s the scoop: You have critically important work to do in the world, and you can’t do it well without being at the top of your game.

What will you do to take care of you?

what will you do with your costume?

Halloween is such a great time of the year. There’s almost as much excitement around it as around the December holidays.

Part of the excitement is getting to choose our costumes; deciding who we want to be.

And we get to be anything we choose.

That’s what this week’s video is about.

But sometimes we lose our way. We feel stuck. We forget that we have a choice.

The very best choice, of course, is to be you. The very highest and best expression of you.

Who is that?

Who will you choose to be?
