Grow & Scale A Business That Will Set You Free
Getting Ready To Get Ready
Preparation is important, necessary even.
But all too often preparation can become camouflage… a smokescreen to hide behind. Because you are afraid.
Here’s what’s true: If you feel drawn to do work in the world… if you have an idea for a product or program or service, it likely needs to be out in the world. And likely, there are people who really, really need what you have.
Not when you’re “ready.”
But now.
Start before you’re ready. Even if you’re afraid.
In A Hotel 8 Time Zones Away
We went to a hotel.
8 time zones away.
For a 2-day meeting.
You might want to do that too.
If you want to do more, be more, make more; if you yearn for a bigger life; if you seek for deeper satisfaction and joy in what you do; then surround yourself with others who will challenge you; who will lift you up; who will want for your success.
Even if you need to go to a hotel… 8 time zones from here.
It’s not about how smart you are
Uber successful entrepreneurs and business professionals share one unique characteristic.
It’s not intellect; it’s not innate talent.
It’s just one thing.
Show up every day.
Do the work. No matter what.
Consistency matters most.
I’m going to sue your sorry ass
For many of us, as highly trained professionals, the idea of making a mistake is anathema.
To be avoided at all costs.
And true, professional errors can be costly.
But as entrepreneurs, the fear of making mistakes can be even more expensive.
For entrepreneurs, failures, mistakes, and errors are the way forward.
Playing it safe will keep you small.
Risk the error.
Fail forward fast.
As If It Was The Last Day
Dan was the state marshal at a court house I worked in frequently.
I slid my trial bag onto the x-way conveyor belt, and walked through the metal detector.
“Hey Dan, how are you?” I asked.
Dan shook his head and, with his shoulders drooped, looked down at the floor before responding.
“One day closer to the weekend,” he answered.
It was Monday.
Steve Jobs once said, “For the past 33 years, I’ve looked into the mirror each day and asked myself this question: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.”
We have the opportunity, perhaps even the responsibility, to co-create these magnificent things that are our lives… to craft them in a way that brings us joy.
Is it time to change something?
